Where do the Glasses Go?

Are you hosting a dinner for family and friends? Have you decided to have your boss or coworkers over for a dinner party? No matter what the occasion you always want to put your best foot forward, this can mean everything from the table setting including Bavaria 6771 to the way the actual tableware is arranged.

So you’ve picked out your beautiful china, one of our favorites is Aynsley Leighton Cobalt Scalloped, and now you’re left with the daunting task of remembering what goes where. Which side does the Atlantis Evora glass go on again? You ask yourself, “can this really be so difficult?” Our answer for you is, no it’s not difficult at all. To give your table simple yet tasteful elegance use some of these helpful tips.

The dinner plate will be put in the center of your place setting. A great idea for a place setting is a coordinating table fabric. Once your dinner plate is in position you will put the salad plate at the top left, at right about 10 o’clock.

The wine glass or other drink glass will go on the right side of your dinner plate. If your dinner plate were a clock you would find these glasses at 2 o’clock.

The salad fork as well as the dinner fork will always be positioned on the left side of the dinner plate, center these utensils at about 9 o’clock. The dinner knife and the teaspoon will be placed on the right side of the dinner plate, centered at about 3 o’clock.

Add some pizzazz to the center of your table with a low sitting fresh flower arrangement. Fresh flowers are a great way to add color and the freshness of the outdoors to your dinner party. Keep the arrangement low enough that guests can easily see each other over the top, thus allowing for easier communication.

Adding a touch of elegance to your dinner table is as easy as following the simple tips outlined above. With your table set beautifully you can focus on wowing your guests and not wondering if your teaspoon is in the right place.
